I recieved an email this morning from my sister-in-law, that reminded me of how grateful I am to have my extended family in my life. I have only one sister and much younger at that, so my biological family if you will is actually quite small. How lucky am I to have this “extra” family to love and support me. They add depth and spice to my life, especially that one in D.C. – never quite know what she is going to do next!
I have brother-in-laws that brave heavy metal concerts with my children and are always willing to lend a hand, a sister-in-law is calm in any storm, always the voice of reason and another one who sends me random text messages out of the blue asking for recipes or tax questions, but always makes me smile and reminds me that I am glad to have them all. If I am being honest, then the best thing of all is the beautiful, intelligent and entertaining nieces nephews they have blessed me with. Watching them enjoy life and grow into the people they are becoming without the fears and responsibilities that come with parenting is a wonderful thing. “Auntie” is my favorite hat to wear and something to be grateful for indeed.
