The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving. ~H.U. Westermayer
Let’s celebrate an entire month of Thanksgiving! Each day try to think of just one thing to be thankful for, and the trick is that you can’t repeat it! It may seem daunting, but I am convinced that we can each find 30 things or people to be thankful for if we really focus on the task. As today’s quote says, if the pilgrims could be thankful in their circumstances, then surely we can.
Since I missed yesterday, I will share two.
I am thankful for access to some of the best healthcare in the world! Yes, I know the system is broken and I do not deny that it needs to be fixed in a huge way, but still. A century ago, I could have been virtually certain that all 4 of my children would not have survived childhood. We no longer worry about our children dying of dehydration or complications from influenza, measles, small pox, whooping cough, tetanus, polio and this list goes on and on……
I am also thankful for advancements in photography and videography, that allow us to capture images and sound in real-time and hold on to them as cherished mementos so that we can relive our experiences again and again whenever we wish!
What are you grateful for today? Please share! If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!Related posts
