How many of us actually accept compliments graciously by simply saying “thank you?” Someone praises us or something we’ve done and rather than accepting their praise, for fear that we may seem conceited or lack humility, we give all the reasons why we aren’t worthy of their compliment.
When you accept a compliment with thanks, it doesn’t mean you were vain or self-important but rather that you have learned a thing or two about conducting yourself with grace and gratitude. One of the greatest feelings is to give a heartfelt compliment, knowing that it is received in the same spirit it was intended. The next time someone takes their time and energy to say something nice to you, acknowledge the compliment by replying with a simple “thank you.” You will both feel better!
